I received a call from Pastor Robbins at Highlawn Baptist Church that the measure for New Hope Christian School to rent the facilities at Highlawn has passed! Sixty-five ballots were received with 72% voting in the affirmative.
Likely, the coming days will be very busy! The process we’re looking at now is:
1.) Forming an LLC or Corporation for the school
2.) Filing for Exemption K status with the WV State Superintendent of Schools
3.) Setting up financial accounts for the school
4.) Procuring any supplies that are possibly made available to us from CCBC
5.) Meeting with leadership at Highlawn regarding the rental agreement and what space we will need, and preparing those spaces
6.) Confirming teacher availability
7.) Preparing documentation for the school (handbooks, confirmed final tuition schedule, etc.)
8.) Filing for Non-Profit status with the IRS
Once financial accounts are setup, we will begin taking registration fees for students wishing to attend New Hope Christian School. This registration fee will not be a large dollar amount, but will be a simple indicator that your child will be attending NHCS and we can figure your monthly tuition support into the school’s budget. Also, if you can show me a receipt/cancelled check where you have paid registration to another school in the interim, your registration fee for NHCS will be waived.
Included at the end of this post is another short survey. Please fill it out for us so that, again, we have a semi-accurate estimate of the number of possible students attending when we meet with the leadership of the church and begin lease negotiations and talk about setting up the spaces we will need within the church. My hope is that things begin to progress very quickly over the next month, and that I’ll have more news to share with you on a more frequent basis!
Also, if you are interested in taking part in the school – be it volunteering your time, teaching, or anything else – please get in touch with me (email@example.com)! I won’t pretend that this first year won’t be a struggle, but I serve a God who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we able to ask or think! (Eph. 3:20)
Most of all, please continue praying for us as the wheels begin turning!
